First Nations in Alberta are celebrating the win for the pro-Canada side in Monday’s referendum — but they’re also raising concerns about a shortage of ballots in their communities.
About three in four Albertans said yes to Confederation on Monday, while about one in four said they wanted the province to hold a second, binding referendum on leaving.
Siksika Nation says that while it’s pleased with the outcome, the polling station in their community was understaffed and didn’t receive enough ballots from Elections Alberta, leading to long wait times and “unnecessary obstacles.”

Tania Cameron, who helped boost First Nations turnout in the vote, says she was proud to learn several First Nations polling stations had to request more ballots.
She also says Elections Alberta should have been more prepared.
She says not having enough ballots is a slap in the face to community members who wanted their voices heard.

Just can’t do enough for the first nations. Cry about everything until we pay enough $$$$
Indigenous enjoy the special status of not having to work and not having to pay tax…..maybe one day everyone will be treated equally and everyone can work and pay tax. Am I dreaming? Maybe I am.
U don’t pay taxes shouldn’t help a vote
@ Johnny canucklehead, stick to blowing carnhole you leftard sh*tstain, this is MY COUNTRY
The racism on here is disgusting though not surprising from this separatist lot. Votes over kooks. Quit yer whining or leave our beautiful country.
worried about getting a check at the end of the month only reason why. i never seen them try so hard for anything
I am not a member of any FN’s Inuit, Métis etc, but I did have a conversation with an Elections AB worker, who admitted they were woefully unprepared to the massive mail in ballots. If they were unprepared in this area, it does not surprise me they were unprepared in other areas.
Not up to Elections AB to teach FNs how to read and write.
WLC
Well said. Thank you.
Nobody cares about the free loading First Nations feelings. Except the free loaders themselves and their friends like W Powers. ( wah ! )
Wah wah wah shut up already
Racist comments here are almost unbelievable. Are these actual comments from Albertan people or from foreign agents, employed to seed separation? You hear the US telling Canada not to meddle in US elections, but they sure think it is their right to pay people to write such tripe
They couldn’t find any First Nation people to count ballots that could count past zero
Indians didn’t lift a finger to help. You ever seen a prepared Indian before? Like seeing a Sasquatch, doesn’t happen.
The chiefs found out that the regular people on the reserves wanted out of Canada that gives money to the chiefs that they never see.
Not enough ballots delivered to First Nations in Alberta is just a deliberate tactic to suppress Aboriginal participants from having their voices heard by the separatists who want to be Trumpians. If you don’t like being a part of Canada just move your sorry asses to the USA.
No one cares what these layabout, professional victims have to say. All they do is protest, hold up any progres Canada makes. All until they get their big fat paycheck.
Canada’s Indians are a drain on this country and nothing else. They do nothing to help anyone as a whole, just what they can get for free for their own greediness
Those Albertans who want a second vote at leaving….why doesn’t the Canadian government phone other countries to see if they would like to have all those disgruntled not appreciative Albertans to immigrate abroad. We have so many freedoms here that some other countries don’t have. Move them there and see how they will change their bad attitude in time and then realize how good they had it
Gee. Victimhood Inc. complains again. How shocking. Just how long do these people think this toddler behaviour will be tolerated?
Gee and why did the first nations leadership team not get involved and get their band members on the mail in ballots list? Perhaps that took too much thought and effort on their part?
They were counting ballots but when someone called their name they had to start over.
Always the victim. Why didn’t more of their people volunteer or is that the white man’s responsibility as well?
Did you have a full day ceremony day before to tell everybody how you’re the appointed keeper’s of the earth
Well——Just not up to the standards of our First Nations.
Do these losers ever have anything to offer other than their constant asks ?
Pathetic.
