WINNIPEG — Police officers in a rural Manitoba community are busy investigating a rash of thefts within a five-day span in Altona.
Vehicles, lawnmowers and snowmobiles were among the items reported stolen to the Altona Police Service from Oct. 1 to 5.
Compile Construction was among the businesses hit, with the following items stolen:
- A black 2009 Arctic Cat Cross Fire snowmobile;
- A black 2013 Arctic Cat Pro Cross FX 1100 LXR snowmobile; and
- A grey Triton trailer.
Pembina Valley Landscaping lost the following items:
- A white F350 Ford heavy-duty truck (later recovered in Garson, Man.); and
- A maroon 2014 GMC Sierra half-ton truck (recovered not far from where it was taken).

Precision Autobody lost a black cargo trailer with white rims and a rare restored 1958 Plymouth Savoy that was inside the trailer. (The car was later recovered, stripped down in a pasture in Sarto, Man.)
A blue 2002 Dodge Ram half-ton truck and a laptop and camera equipment (taken from a truck) were also stolen from Altona-area properties.
Altona police estimate the value of the stolen vintage car was more than$60,000. In total, officers estimate the value of stolen goods from this spree to be more than $100,000.
Police ask anyone who may recognize any of the individuals in the video or anyone who has any information related to these crimes to call the Altona Police Service at 204-324-5373, their local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
