EDMONTON — RCMP believe alcohol may have played a role in a fatal collision west of Edmonton Saturday night.
RCMP say a Dodge Ram collided with a power pole in the area of Township Road 524 and Range Road 25, west of Stony Plain, at around 8:40 p.m.

There were four adults inside the truck at the time. Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to remove one of the trapped passengers.
Two men were thrown from the vehicle; one of them died at the scene. The other man was taken by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital.

The extent of the other passengers’ injuries are not known.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
