Emergency crews were called to a report of an injured woman along the 2000 Block of 6 Avenue South in Lethbridge Friday morning.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

According to police, the 25-year-old was attacked while walking eastbound along 6 Avenue South, between 13 Street and Mayor Magrath Drive, between 6 and 7 a.m.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen a woman, any other people or any suspicious activity in the area at the time, to contact them.

It is unknown if this was a random or targeted assault.
Police continue to investigate and the identity of the woman has not been released.
