Multiple police raids in London lead to array of trafficking, weapons charges

An array of drug trafficking and weapons-related charges have been laid against eight people, including five individuals from London, after London Police and members of the RCMP searched a number of homes throughout the city.

Police raided houses on Wonderland Road North, Platts Lane, and Richmond Street on Thursday, and seized a loaded gun, nearly $40,000 worth of a cutting agent suspected to be Phenacetin, $9000 worth of cocaine, and a variety of other drugs.

They also seized $22,000 in cash.

A 23-year-old from London is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, two counts of careless storage of a weapon, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, and failure to comply with recognizance.

A 28-year-old from London, and a 22-year-old from London are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a scheduled substance, and possession of a scheduled substance not in excess.

A 23-year-old from Etobicoke is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and failing to comply with police.

A 28-year-old from Hamilton is charged with possesion for the purpose of trafficking.

Three other Londoners have been summoned to answer to trafficking and weapons related charges.

Members of the Guns and Drugs section conducted the warrants, which were made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
