The Saskatoon Police Service announced Tuesday that deputy chief Jeff Bent is retiring.
He began his career with the police service in 1982. Throughout it, he has worked in such areas as patrol, canine, robbery, homicide, and records management.

Bent was also a member of the emergency response team, and a crisis negotiator.
Following his promotion to sergeant, he held a number of positions in community policing support, human resources, public affairs, and professional standards.
He was promoted to deputy chief in 2016, in charge of support services.
Saskatoon police thanked Bent for his involvment in policing, which started two years prior to being hired, making his commitment to serving his community a total of 36 years.
