A man is in hospital fighting for his life after an assault near the CancerCare Manitoba building Wednesday evening.
Police said they were called to Olivia Street near McDermot Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. when they were told a man had been stabbed. Police found the man and started first aid immediately. The man, in his 20s, was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he remains, although is condition has been upgraded to critical/stable, said police.

A few hours later, Major Crimes Unit managed to track down a suspect in the area.
Jamie Jason James Suggashie, 29, faces aggravated assault and weapons charges.
He is in custody.

Police could be seen placing several evidence markers around the area Wednesday and pieces of clothing were also seen on the ground.
Officers cleared the scene at 9 p.m. later that night.
