Editor’s note: Peel Regional Police originally identified the child as a girl, but officers said in an update the child was a boy. The boy’s age was also later updated by police
A 18-month-old boy has died after he was hit by a delivery van at a Mississauga apartment building parking lot Wednesday afternoon, Peel Regional Police say.
Emergency crews were called to the building near Confederation Parkway and Paisley Boulevard West, west of Hurontario Street and Queensway West, just before 5:30 p.m.
Const. Akhil Mooken told reporters the boy’s mother, who was with him when he was struck, and the driver of the delivery van took the child to Mississauga Hospital, which is located a short distance away from the scene. The boy died in hospital.
“How the collision itself occurred is still part of our investigation,” he said.
