New Brunswick reported Thursday the death of a person in their 50s due to COVID-19. This brings the total number of deaths in the province to 120.
The province also announced 39 new cases amid a “significant fall” of daily cases, according to Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health.
Russell said for the first time in more than six weeks, active cases have fallen below 500. As of Thursday, the number of active cases is 464.

“We are making progress…there are fewer New Brunswickers in hospital and that has given us the confidence to reduce restrictions in some areas,” she said at a COVID-19 briefing.
The circuit breaker will continue for another seven days in a large section of Zone 1 (Moncton region) and a large part of Zone 2 (Saint John region) as virus activity remains high.

But due to the reduced cases and hospitalizations in the northern part of Zone 3 (Fredericton region), Zone 4 (Edmundston region) and Zone 5 (Campbellton region), circuit breaker restrictions will be lifted. This will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5.
Of the 39 new cases, 56 per cent are unvaccinated, three per cent are partially vaccinated and 41 per cent are fully vaccinated.
There are 12 people in an intensive care unit; nine are unvaccinated and three are fully vaccinated.
There are 18 people in hospital, including the 12 in intensive care. Of the 18 in hospital, 12 are unvaccinated and six are fully vaccinated.
