Russia facing more sanctions after no ceasefire reached: EU
Description
May 12, 2025
U.S. President Donald Trump has been pushing for a truce between Ukraine and Russia, and the pressure may have yielded some results, with Russia's President Vladimir Putin proposing a meeting later this week in Turkey. Putin has proposed that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy meet face-to-face. But could Putin’s meeting proposal be a way to avoid further sanctions? The European Union says Russia must abide by a 30-day ceasefire or face more sanctions. Global’s Nathaniel Dove reports.
