Trump says increase in NATO defense spending ‘big win’ for Europe, U.S.
Description
June 25, 2025
U.S. President Donald Trump spoke on Wednesday after a "highly productive" two-day NATO summit in The Hague, emphasizing the significant commitments made by NATO allies to "dramatically" increase defense spending to 5 per cent of GDP — a feat he claimed "no one really thought possible." He noted that this commitment represents a "monumental win for the United States" as it had been carrying "much more than our fair share," and added, "but this is a big win for Europe and for Western civilization."
