Kids Help Phone is calling for the public’s financial aid, as the service sees a significant rise in overnight demand. As Megan King reports, the mental health support line is looking to hire additional overnight staff to meet the need — ahead of the return to school where another surge is expected.

According to the RCMP, between August 2025 and March 2026, officers in Selkirk responded to eight reports of an unknown woman making self-harm comments through Kids Help Phone. Officers say that in five of those cases, the woman pretended to be someone else.
